Good Neighborhood Laws


Construction in residential areas is limited to the hours of 7 a:m. to 9 p.m., during the week, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
It is banned on Sundays. (LAMC 41.40)

Loud Noises from any musical instrument, stereo or other ampli­fied device is prohibited if it interferes with the peace and quiet of another.
(LAMC 112.01 (a))

No instrument or sound-producing device should be audible more than 150 feet away from the boundary where it is being played.
(LAMC 112.01 (b)

Car Alarms must become automatically silenced within five min­utes.
(LAMC 114.06)

Leaf Blowers may not be used before 7 a.m. or after 10 p.m.
(LAMC 112.05(b))

Garbage Collection within 200 feet of a residential zone is limited to the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
(LAMC 113.01)

Loading or unloading vehicles, or using equipment for unloading, is prohibited between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., within 200 feet of a residence.

• To file a complaint regarding excessive noise from Barking Dogs (LAMC 53.63), submit a letter to your area Animal Ser­vices facility, including your name, address, phone number, ad­dress of barking dog, description of problem, your! signature.

Properties must be free of trash, debris and overgrown vegetation (LAMC 91.8104)

For the safety of residents and visitors, houses must be painted, maintained and in good repair.

Items, such as indoor furniture, plumbing fixtures, construction or auto parts are not to be stored in the yard.

A maximum of five 2-day yard sales are allowed per year. Sale items must be used only, no new merchandise. Sales are not allowed on sidewalks or streets. Hours are limited to 9AM – 5PM

Vehicles should not be parked in the front area of the property, except in a designated driveway.

Trash containers can be set on the curbside no earlier than 6 P.M. the evening before
collection and removed no later than 8 P.M. the following day.

any-private premises in the city.

Good Neighborhood Laws


Home Auto Repair – Other than minor emergencies, which must be completed
within 24 hours, all auto repairs should be done in an area that is entirely enclosed from view.
(LAMC 12.21A1(a))

Inoperative Vehicles – Non-working vehicles must be stored in a garage or area not viewable
from a public street,not in a driveway
(LAMC 12.21A8(b))

Front Yard Parking – Vehicles should not be parked in the front yard area, except in a designated driveway.
(LAMC 80.71.3)

Parking in Alleys – Except for emergency vehicles, parking is never allowed in alleys.
(Vehicle Code 22951)
