The Sherman Oaks Street Fair 2012
10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Each year the Sherman Oaks Street Fair is one of the most important and fun celebrations in Sherman Oaks.
Ventura Boulevard is closed between Van Nuys Boulevard and Kester.
There were vendors, rides for children, entertainment, C-PAB and Mid-Valley.
Hundreds of community volunteers gathered from all of the city’s Los Angeles Police Department 21 local station neighborhoods Saturday, October 6, 2012, for the nineteenth annual summit meeting of the Community Police Advisory Board. Each station, from Topanga in the north to Harbor in the south has its own C-PAB group of volunteers who act as liaisons between the department and their local community. This year the summit was held on the grounds of the elegant and storied Paramount Studios on Melrose Avenue.
Major figures in Los Angeles law enforcement addressed the gathering, including Police Chief Charlie Beck, Assistant Chief Earl C. Paysinger, Andrea Sheridan Ordin, president of the civilian Police Commission that oversees LAPD, City Attorney Carmen Trutanich and several members of his staff, and Alexander Bustamonte, head of the Inspector General’s Office.
Chief Beck stressed the importance of his department’s partnership with community members as key for the department to be able to act together with the community to solve its law enforcement problems and not be seen as a hostile element as had been the case in years past.
The 29 th. Annual National Neighbors Night out in Van Nuys was a big success as more then 2000 came out to
celebrate the Neighborhood Watch and meet with various city officials.
April 22, 2012 – Valley Glen CA
The Greater Valley Glen Community firefighters pancake breakfast and safety fair was a big success with more
than 2500 people attending this past weekend.
This is the fourth year that Fire Station 102 has held its annual firefighters pancake breakfast with more than 1300 meals served.
Across the street from Fire Station 102, at Los Angeles Valley College, the Greater Valley Glen neighborhood Council
held its community safety fair with community information booths from the Los Angeles police department, the Community Police Advisory Boards of Van Nuys and North Hollywood, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the California National Guard, the Los Angeles fire Department emergency responders and the Los Angeles Police Department Cadets who were offering free fingerprinting for children and child car seat safety checks.
There was fun to be had for the whole family with fire trucks on display, helicopter flyovers by the LAPD, earthquake preparedness and neighborhood watch booths and great live music.
January , 2012 – Van Nuys CA
The Van Nuys Blvd Rejuvenation Committee was organized to bring the once vibrant Van Nuys Boulevard back as a
destination for walking, dining and shopping. Our goal is to enhance safety and address quality of life issues.
Through community empowerment we will be addressing all aspects which effect blight and crime.
Our short term goal is to bring safety and security, and our long term goal is to bring economic recovery.
Our passion is to make Van Nuys the most desirable place to live, work and play.
